Privacy Policy
Effective date: May 11, 2026
Last updated: May 11, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect on tellsophie.com, why we collect it, who we share it with, and what your rights are. We've tried to write it in plain language. If anything here is unclear, email privacy@tellsophie.com and we'll explain or correct it.
What this policy covers
This policy covers your visit to tellsophie.com and your use of the email signup form on the site. When the iOS application launches, it will be governed by a separate, fuller privacy policy. We will email you about that policy before it takes effect, if you're on the signup list.
Who we are
We are SAUERAPPLE LLC, doing business as TellSophie, a California limited liability company. You can reach us at privacy@tellsophie.com or by mail at PO Box 1222, Sugarloaf, CA 92386.
What we collect
When you sign up for the launch list, we collect:
- Your email address.
- Your pregnancy stage, if you choose to provide it. This field is optional and you can complete signup without it.
- Whether you've consented to receive occasional updates beyond the single launch-day email.
- A timestamp of when you signed up.
- A coarse approximation of your state of residence, derived from your Internet Protocol (IP) address. We do not persist your IP address in our application database. Our hosting and content-delivery providers (Vercel, Cloudflare) log it transiently as part of their standard request logging.
When you visit the website (separate from signup), we may collect:
- Pages you visit and the order you visit them in. Only collected if you accept analytics in our cookie banner.
- Errors that occur in your browser, with email addresses and other identifiers scrubbed before transmission. Our error tracker (Sentry) applies default PII redaction to query parameters, cookies, and request bodies.
- The country your request originates from. Used to direct non-United States visitors to a holding page.
When you click a link in one of our emails, we collect:
- That you clicked the link.
- A token that identifies which signup the click came from. The token does not contain your email address.
When you fill out the form on the holding page (for non-United States visitors), we collect:
- Your email address.
- Your country.
We do not collect: your name, your phone number, your physical address, your child's name, anything about your health beyond the optional pregnancy stage, anything financial, anything we don't list above.
How we use what we collect
- Your email address is used to send you the single launch-day email and, if you opted in, occasional updates from us.
- Your pregnancy stage is used to inform our work on the iOS application's launch sequence and the prompt taxonomy. It is not used to contact you differently or to target you with anything. The page at /consumer-health-data-privacy explains the additional legal protections that apply to this field specifically.
- Your state of residence is used to comply with state-specific privacy laws.
- Analytics data (if you accepted) is used to understand which pages people visit and which signup form variants work. We do not connect analytics data to your email address.
- Error reports are used to fix bugs.
Who we share what we collect with
We use the following service providers, each of which receives a specific subset of data for a specific purpose:
| Provider | What they receive | What they do with it | |---|---|---| | Vercel | Web request data, error logs | Hosts the website | | Supabase | Form submissions, signup status | Stores the data | | Resend | Your email address, email content | Sends transactional email | | Cloudflare | Form submission with Turnstile token | Spam protection | | PostHog | Analytics events, only if you accepted | Web analytics | | Sentry | Error reports with identifiers scrubbed | Error tracking |
Each provider operates under a written data processing agreement with us. The list above is the only place your data goes. We do not sell your data. We do not share it for advertising purposes. We do not share it with anyone else.
Where we store what we collect
In the United States. Both Supabase and Vercel give us United States-only data residency, and we configure them that way.
How long we keep what we collect
- Pre-launch signup data: until the iOS application launches, plus 90 days. After that we delete it unless you've opted in to ongoing updates from us, in which case we keep it as long as you remain subscribed.
- Cold or unconfirmed signups: removed automatically after 60 days, regardless of launch status. This is a carve-out from the rule above.
- Holding page submissions: 12 months. After that we delete the row unless you reconfirm.
- Analytics data (if you accepted): 90 days, then deleted.
- Error logs: 30 days, then deleted.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- Know what we have on file about you.
- Get a copy of what we have, in a portable format.
- Correct anything that's wrong.
- Delete what we have about you.
- Opt out of analytics. You can also do this from the cookie banner or by sending a Global Privacy Control signal from your browser.
- Opt out of marketing email. One click in any email we send.
- Be free from discrimination for exercising any of these rights. We will not deny you service, charge you differently, or send you fewer or worse emails because you exercised your rights.
- Appeal a denial. If we deny one of the requests above, you may appeal by replying to our response or writing to privacy@tellsophie.com with the subject line "Appeal." We will respond to appeals within 45 days.
To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@tellsophie.com. We will respond within 45 days. We may need to verify your identity before we act on a request, which we will usually do by sending a confirmation email to the address on file.
If you live in California, you have additional rights described on the California Notice. If you've provided pregnancy stage information, you have additional rights described in the Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy.
Children's privacy
The website is for parents and other adults considering recording for a child. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If we learn we have, we will delete it.
Cookies and similar technology
We use a single first-party cookie to remember your cookie banner choices. We do not load any other first-party cookies unless you accept analytics in the banner. Sentry, our error tracking service, is configured to operate without setting identifying cookies. Cloudflare Turnstile — our spam-protection service — may set short-lived cookies on its own challenge subdomain during form submission; these are scoped to Cloudflare's domain and are not readable by us.
If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we respect it. The cookie banner pre-selects "Reject" and we treat the signal as an opt-out for any analytics or sharing purposes.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in a way that affects what we do with information you've already given us, we'll email you at the address on file before the change takes effect. For everything else, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top.
