Frequently asked questions.

What is TellSophie?

A live voice diary for your child, recorded by you. A short prompt every day. A minute of audio or video — who you are, what you’re thinking, what you’d want them to know. You can replay anything you’ve recorded from day one. Your child gets joint access at 13 and full access at 18.

Who is it for?

Expecting parents in the second or third trimester. New parents in the first six months. Parents of a second or third kid who feel they’ve recorded less for this one than the first. The whole family can contribute — partner, grandparents, godparents, chosen family — each on their own cadence. The chorus is part of the point.

How does it work?

A prompt arrives at the time you set — morning coffee, evening wind-down. You record a minute of audio or video, out loud. No editing, no retakes. Replay anything you’ve recorded, anytime, from day one. The diary grows. Your child gets joint access at 13, full at 18.

What does my child actually get, and when?

Between 13 and 17, your child becomes a joint admin alongside you — they can listen, and you can adjust access together. At 18, the diary is fully theirs. You can also open it sooner if you’d rather. What they get is years of you and the people who raised them, in your own voices, in original format, with transcripts.

What if I miss a day?

Most people will. There’s no streak counter, no penalty, no guilt push. Tomorrow’s prompt arrives at the time you chose, exactly as it would have. The product is calibrated for the hard weeks, not the easy ones — for parents with a baby, a job, and a life. The point is the years, not the days.

How much does it cost?

Family is $99 a year — up to two children, up to five contributors. Village is $199 a year — up to five children, unlimited contributors. Both start with a 14-day free trial.

What happens if I have a pregnancy loss?

One tap pauses everything. Billing stops. Prompts stop. The diary stays exactly where it is, for as long as you want it to. No follow-up emails. No nudges. If and when you come back, the controls are in settings.

What about my privacy?

The practice only works if you trust the audience. Only you and the people you invite can ever listen. We never sell or share your data. We never train AI on your recordings — not ours, not anyone’s. Storage is encrypted and US-based; AI inference is locked to the US.

What if TellSophie goes away?

Every active customer gets a final export to user-owned cloud storage, with a 90-day window to download. We hold a funded continuity reserve specifically for this — already paid for. The export format is open and published; any future tool can read it.

Can I get my recordings out anytime?

Yes — anytime, on every plan, including the trial. One-tap export gives you a ZIP of standard files anyone can open, anywhere. The diary is yours; we’re a place to keep it, not a place to lock it.
