What is tellsophie?

A daily prompt and a minute of video or audio. Partner, grandparents, whoever you invite. One place — not a camera roll, a group chat, and three phones. Someday you hand the whole thing over.

Who is it for?

Expecting parents in the second or third trimester. New parents in the first six months. Parents of a second or third kid who feel they’ve recorded less for this one than the first.

How does it work?

A daily nudge at the time you pick. Answer the prompt or say what’s on your mind. One minute of video or audio, even from a locked phone. Or grab a sound on the fly, no prompt needed. Invite whoever is raising them. Each year you can look back at this date.

Why can’t I see the question before I record?

Because not knowing is half the fun. The reminder and the home screen only tell you what today is about — “Today’s about confessions,” say. The question shows up when you press Record, and recording starts right then. It’s written for your child’s age today. There’s nothing to rehearse, so what you say is what you’d actually say.

What does my child actually get, and when?

One day you share it with them. They hear what life was like before they could remember any of it. You decide when — their 18th birthday, a Tuesday. Until then it’s yours.

What if I miss a day?

Most people will. There’s no streak counter, no penalty, no guilt push. Tomorrow’s prompt arrives at the time you chose, exactly as it would have. The product is calibrated for the hard weeks, not the easy ones — for parents with a baby, a job, and a life. The point is the years, not the days.

How much does it cost?

Family is $9.99 a month or $99 a year — up to two children, up to five contributors. Village is $19.99 a month or $199 a year — up to five children, unlimited contributors. Both start with a 14-day free trial.

What happens if I have a pregnancy loss?

Report a loss and everything on our side stops. Prompts stop. Nudges and email stop. The recordings stay exactly where they are, for as long as you want them to. Billing is Apple’s, not ours — we cannot stop an auto-renewing subscription on your behalf, so if you want the charges to stop you cancel in your Apple settings, and the app shows you how at the moment you report. If and when you come back, the controls are in settings.

What about my privacy?

Each recording is private, or shared with the family — you choose every time. Private is the default. Only you and the people you invite can ever listen. We never sell or share your data. We never train AI on your recordings — not ours, not anyone’s. Storage is encrypted and US-based; AI inference is locked to the US. What if tellsophie goes away?

Every active customer gets a final export, already paid for, from a funded continuity reserve. The export format is open and published; any future tool can read it.

Can I get my recordings out anytime?

Yes — anytime, on every plan, including the trial. Request an export and we fulfill it by hand within five business days, as a ZIP of standard files anyone can open. The recordings are yours; we’re a place to keep them, not a place to lock them.
